Melaka in 30 minutes

By Sarah.

So me and my family had a sudden short trip to Melaka. We went to Kluang for an errand that Ayah needed to settle and we tagged along. (we have nothing better to do, obviously.)
On the way back, we decided to visit Bangunan Stadhuys because Hussein, my little brother have been nagging to visit since the holiday started. It was probably due to the fact of excitement that he read from his history book -_-

If you are travelling by car, Melaka now uses parking coupon system where you can buy the coupon for RM0.40 for half and hour and RM0.60 for one hour. You have the option of buying a booklet too which costs RM3 for a mixture of half and hour and hourly tickets. We parked near the Stadhuys museums because all the museum attractions are just by walking distance. If you got tired from all the travelling, you can ride the 'beca'/trishaw that usually cost RM10.

Since it was a sudden trip, we arrived at 5pm. Most of the museums are near to closing/closed :(
Tip# The operating hours shown is 9am - 5.30pm, but the ticket counter is closed by 5pm.

We have arrived!

To cool off our disappointment, we had the famous Clock Tower Cendol by the road. They have Cendol Pulut Durian!

My Fav: Cendol Pulut

We walked to A Famosa and passed by many museums such as Muzium Setem and Muzium UMNO. Since this trip is for Hussein, most pictures are of him '-_-

A Famosa fortress

Me and Hussein then climbed up the stairs behind A famosa with no clue of where we were heading.

The view from the top
To our surprise,
First stop: Dutch Cemetery!
Hussein posing as Weeping Angel
Second Stop: St. Paul Church

Ever wondered how they keep the buildings clean?

After 'touristing' ourselves taking pictures and reading the information boards, we discovered a secret trail to our car park without going back downhill to the fortress.

Tip# Instead of walking by the roadside from the Stadhuys to the A Famosa, there is actually a trail from the Muzium Pemerintahan Demokrasi on Stadhuys to St. Paul Church. This trail is less exhausting than the stairs...trust me

The kinda-sorta secret trail

If you skip all the museums, you can actually cover most of the tourist attractions in under one hour :D
